What that looks like depends on the space.
In a kitchen, for example, we may group similar items together, help you decide what you use, and organize everything based on where and how often you use it. In a closet, we might start by going through clothing and then organize what you're keeping by type.
How CHAR & CO.'s Home Organizing Process Works
CHAR & CO. starts with a complimentary discovery call to learn about your home, what you'd like help with, and what isn't working.
Our organizing process follows five steps: Prioritize, Categorize, Minimize, Organize, and Systemize.
Prioritize
First, we determine what needs attention and what you want to accomplish. This helps us decide where to start and what needs to change.
Categorize
Next, we group similar belongings together. This makes it easier to see what you have, spot duplicates, and understand how much storage each category needs.
Minimize
If you have more than you want or your space can comfortably hold, we'll help you go through your belongings. You decide what you'd like to keep, donate, recycle, or discard.
Organize
Once we know what's staying, we give those belongings practical places based on your available storage and how you use the space.
Frequently used items might need to be easier to reach, while seasonal or rarely used belongings can be stored elsewhere.
Systemize
Finally, we make the organization easier to maintain. That may include clearly defined categories, labels, or organizing products where they're useful.
The goal is to create a system that makes it easier to put things back where they belong.
Are Organizing Products Included?
Not every organizing project requires new products.
It's usually better to sort first and see what you're keeping before purchasing bins, baskets, dividers, or other storage products. You may already have products we can reuse, or the space may need fewer products than you expected.
Storage product recommendations and shopping assistance are available upon request when additional products would improve the space.
Is Donation Help Included?
Yes. CHAR & CO. includes one donation drop-off per organizing session to one of our charitable partners.
Larger quantities, oversized items, or belongings our charitable partners can't accept may require separate arrangements.

CHAR & CO. can organize one room or multiple areas throughout your home, including:

The right place to start is often the space that's causing the most frustration.
If you can't see what you have in your pantry, we can create clearer categories and make frequently used items easier to find. If your garage has become a mix of tools, sports equipment, seasonal decorations, and household supplies, we can create designated areas for each.
You don't need to organize your entire house at once for professional organizing to make a noticeable difference.
How Should I Prepare for an Organizing Session?
You don't need to organize the space before we arrive.
It is helpful to think about what's bothering you about the space, what you'd like to change, and how you'd like it to function when we're finished.
If decluttering is part of the project, plan to be available when we need you to make decisions about your belongings.
And unless we've specifically recommended something, we don't recommend purchasing organizing products beforehand. It's easier to choose the right products after we know what's staying and what the space actually needs.
